Mothers wear many titles—some cherished, some dismissed. Some are showered with love, while others are met with indifference or disrespect. Some find themselves valued only when needed, their presence taken for granted or treated as an inconvenience.
When we think of motherhood, we often imagine a figure of unwavering love and sacrifice—a mother who would do anything for her child(ren). But what happens when that love is met with disregard, resentment, or disrespect? No mother deserves to be treated as less than; like every human being, she is worthy of love, respect, and recognition.
Mothers: Seen, Unseen, Loved, or Overlooked
At its core, motherhood is not defined by emotion—it is simply the state of having a child. But when that child casts blame, shows disrespect, or distances themselves, what is a mother to do?
There comes a time when stepping back is necessary—not out of anger, but as an opportunity for reflection and growth. Sometimes, distance is the only way for a child, no matter their age, to confront their own patterns and take responsibility for their actions.
To the mothers who carry the weight of unappreciated sacrifice, I raise my glass to you—to strength, to self-worth, and to the power of setting healthy boundaries.
May you walk in peace.
